“Parenting is certainly not for the weak!” As a first-time parent, or first time as a 5th grade parent, the challenges continue to come and grow in depth from homework, to hobbies, to the number of “best friends.” It can be mentally tasking as an adult; remember that it is more challenging for your student. Mental health is equally as important as our physical health; however, we typically spend less time caring for our mental wellbeing even though it can help us stay strong during the toughest of times. For our young students, expanding peer relationships and navigating the associated peer pressures are fundamental in their developmental growth. And like many times of growth, there can be growing pains.
As a parent, being prepared to support your child as they face these new hurtles is important. We hope you will spend a few minutes to explore our resource pages with age-appropriate video links, tips, and helplines to serve you and your child!
